Frequently Asked Questions
Services
Where are you based?
I live in Destin, Florida, and regularly work up and down the Emerald Coast, from Pensacola to Panama City! Locations within 50 miles from Destin are included, locations beyond 50 miles are subject to travel fees.
Do you travel?
Absolutely! If you’ve followed along on my Instagram account long at all, you know that this girl is ALWAYS down for an adventure…the more backcountry, the better ;) Travel rates apply based on location and include, but are not limited to, the cost of transportation, lodging, and per diem. Discounts are definitely in the cards for my dream destinations, so let me know where you’d like to go, and we’ll talk details!
What if we REALLY wanted to work with you, but you’re already booked?
Hold up! First off, I’m so so grateful. Second, don’t settle for someone else just yet! Of course my top choice is to be with you every step of the way, but if the stars don’t quite align, we can still work together. I have an incredible community of other photographer that I love to work with. Occasionally, we work for one another as an “associate” photographer. This essentially means that leading up to your wedding, you would still communicate solely with me, and get alllll the wonderful resources and assistance I provide. On your wedding day, the associate hand-picked by me, would take absolutely gorgeous photos with you. Then they’d turn over all of their unedited photos to me, and I would edit, deliver, etc. just as I do with any other wedding.
When should we book you?
In the words of Michael Scott, “ASAP as possible!” The wedding and local photography industry is crazy y’all, and sometimes bookings are made over a year in advance. If you’ve set your wedding date, planned your family vacay, or have a date in mind, and you KNOW we’re the perfect fit, don’t wait!
Can you recommend other vendors?
Absolutely! I’ve worked with lots of wonderful videographers, DJ’s, bakers, florists, and more in the local Emerald Coast area that I’m more than happy to share with you.
Your Photos
When will we get our photos?
Typical turnaround time is 4 weeks for sessions and 8 weeks for weddings, though I try my best to keep you from waiting! Outside of busy tourist and wedding seasons, I also try to send wedding sneak peek galleries of low resolution images, so you have a few to post on social media and share with family and friends.
How many photos will we get?
Sessions:
Since I’m a firm believer in the raw, real, and candid moments that tell the story of your adventure, we usually get A LOT of photos – like, well beyond the minimum kind of a lot. If a photo is beautiful, funny, sweet, or meaningful, it will be in your gallery. That said, juuuuust in case of spotty weather, fussy kiddos, etc I do include a guaranteed minimum number of photos. So long as we meet that number, our session together is considered a success!
Weddings:
The exact number of photos depends a lot on what you do and don’t include on your wedding day. For example, a timeline that includes a first look, multiple portrait locations, a special ceremony activity, and/or an exit, will most likely receive more photos than one that does not. Most of my weddings fall between 600-1200 photos!
Do you offer prints?
Heck yes! Ya know what's so much better for the soul than social media and cloud-stored photos? Real prints hanging on your walls. Memories in photo albums you can pass down to your kids. Teeny wallet-sized prints taped on paperclip holders like my grandmother's. I can help ya with alllll the gorgeous prints, albums, motion books, and more! Head to the Print Shop page for more info.
Do you deliver black & whites?
YESSSS! I freaking love black and white photos. They tell your story in such a beautiful way, that’s uniquely different from color photos. All the photos I choose to put in black and white are also delivered in color. After your gallery delivery, if you’d like any additional photos in black and white, just let me know!
Can we request RAW, unedited photos?
I do not typically deliver RAW files, but they are available for purchase if that’s something you’d like to discuss. If you’re not quite sure why, or what “RAW files” are, this one of the best analogies I’ve heard: RAW files are to a photographer, what raw ingredients are to a baker. You’ve chosen me because of my style in directing, taking, and editing your photos, just as you would hire a baker for their finished baked goods!
Do we get the images’ copyright?
Standard industry practice is that photographers retain the copyright for their work, unless other terms are discussed. This basically just means that as the creator, I am also the “owner” of the photos I take at your session or on your wedding day. As my client, you’re permitted to print and share your photos as you’d like! Most printers no longer require proof of a “print release,” but if you do ever need one, just let me know.
What if someone wants to publish our wedding photos?
Wow, that would be AMAZING! Please remember that as I hold the image copyrights, anyone interested in publishing photos from your session or wedding day will need to contact me to obtain permission.
Business + Nitty Gritty
Do you have insurance?
Absolutely. I wouldn’t be a proper business owner without it!
Can you save a date for me?
To make sure I’m fair with all of my wedding couples and session clients, dates are not secured until you’ve signed your contract and paid your 30% retainer. Bookings are made on a first-come, first-served basis. If I receive additional inquiries for your date before your retainer is paid, I’ll let you know and give you a designated amount of time before moving to the next in line.
How and when will we pay?
Payments are taken through a secure online payment portal that you’ll access through your Proposal Contract, and you can pay with any major debit/credit card or by bank transfer. A nonrefundable retainer of 30% is due to secure your date when you sign your contract. Your remaining balance is due at least 3 weeks before your wedding date or 1 week before your session. Please let me know if you’d like to discuss payment plan options.
What if I (client) need to cancel or reschedule?
First, please let me know as soon as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule (aka, at least 30 days in advance if possible). Remember that nonrefundable retainer we mentioned earlier? That retainer can be transferred one (1) time to a new date, within one calendar year of your original date. I will work with you as best as I can to accommodate changes.
What if you (Hannah) need to cancel?
If I fall horribly ill, have a personal/family emergency, or just straight up die, there is a system in place to make sure you’re taken care of! If at all possible, I would ensure that another peer of equal or greater quality would take my place and give you the absolute best wedding day or session experience. This is why I’m allll about community over competition, and staying connected with other great photographer friends! In that case, I would still be editing all of your photos, and communicating with you throughout the process. If an alternative photographer was not available, you would receive a refund based on services already rendered, and you would be excused from any further payment obligations.
